Events
When fund raising for charitable events, you and your guests buy their chips in
pursuit of winning prizes.
There are various ways to encourage your guests to spend money for the selected
charity other than playing the tables in the normal way.
For example:
Guests buy a number on the roulette wheel for £1. When all 37 numbers are sold
the croupier will spin the wheel and the winner receives a prize. A bottle of drink
normally works well as the prize.
Some local businesses may well sponsor your event by donating prizes with their
name branded upon it. Meat from the butcher, fruit from the greengrocer, just picture
the opportunities in your high street!
Alternatively, some of the larger businesses may well be prepared to sponsor a
gaming table! A sign stating this fact, giving them good local publicity, could be
stood on the table for all to see. They get publicity and we get paid by them and not
from the charity pot!
Example:
100 guests attending.
Admission tickets @ £ 10 each = £ 1000
Purchase of gaming chips £5 = £500
Buffet suppers @ £5 each = £500
This simple example produces £2000
Most guests, some with encouragement, will gamble more than £5. To encourage
them you could say £5 buys 5 chips, £ 10 buys you 10 chips but £20 buys you 25
chips!
